Did you know?

Certified CNAs must complete 48 hours of Continued Education Units (CEUs) during the 2-year certification period. 12 of those hours must be in-person service hours in your first year, and 12 must be in-person service hours in your 2nd year. Up to 24 hours during the two years can be online training through a CDPH-approved program.

Ask your employer about any in-service training they provide (note: this is not simple work hours, but specific training). You can also find in-service training programs at other facilities in your area.

You can use these fillable documents to log your CEU hours, and turn these in with your recertification application:

Your first 2-year certification period will be from the date you got certified, until your 2nd birthday after. Then, it will expire every two years on your birthday: (*Example below, as of March 2024)
